Yamba ‘Funtober’ Day washed out

Disappointingly, last Wednesday’s Funtober Day did not go ahead due to heavy rain; however, this week’s President vs Captains Round will feature the BBQ, drinks cart, freebies and many of the prizes which had been organised for the Funtober event. Needless to say, we are very hopeful that the weather Gods will be kinder to us than they were last week.

Friday’s single Stableford field was reduced because of very threatening skies; however, the sun shone brightly for the ladies who played. Jo King had her faith restored by winning after scoring 41pts. This was clearly the day’s best round on a day which only qualified for one division due to its field of 37 players. Congratulations go to the other two winners which included the r/up, Sue Moten from Maclean (39pts) and Sonya McLennan (34pts c/b) who was the 2nd r/up.

Congratulations go to our NTP winners: Flots and Jets 3rd – Darrie Nightingale; Valley Finance 3rd (2nd) – Fay Gimenez; Peter Campbell Physio 9th (2nd) – Suzanne Scott; Kitchen to Table 10th – Nadene Carroll; Amie Rose Beauty 12th – Sue Moten; Nicholson’s Fine Foods 17th – Gail Gore-Brown and Yamba Pharmacy 17th (2nd) – Nadene Carroll. Balls went to 33pts.

The 15 ladies who participated on Saturday morning could not have hoped for better playing conditions. Tana Lowe played an outstanding game (39pts), beating Kathy Parker who was r/up (35pts c/b) just ahead of Jill Brown. Di Sigle won the NTP. It was great to welcome Jaye Bolte to the playing group and, hopefully, Jaye will become a ‘Saturday regular’.

Our upcoming calendar includes next Wednesday’s final Stroke round of the year, the ‘Medal of Medals’ day. This will also be the last Eclectic and Gobbler round for 2021. Following this on Wednesday November 3 will be the 2BBB Multiplier event. Please ensure you have your name down on the sheets located in the Golfers’ lounge in order to be included in the draw.

Happy golfing.
