Yamba Consistency Singles reaches final stage

The final of the men’s Consistency Singles will be played this coming Sunday August 7 between Ian Parker & Graham Meany at 1pm.

Both had strong wins in their semi-finals over Brett Pingle & Peter Retallack respectively last Sunday to advance to the decider in what promises, on paper, to be a very evenly contested finale to this year’s consistency singles.

Good luck and good bowling to both Ian & Graham.

We recently completed the Handicap Fours Championship with the successful combination of Allan Marr, Jim Groom, Dave Beaumont & Peter Retallack taking out this year’s title in an absolute extra end cliff hanger win over the very gallant side of Keith Smith, Glen Fifield, Ron Smidt & Jimmy Johnson.

To force the extra end Jimmy drew an absolute corker to within a couple of inches of the kitty but the extra end saw the team of Marr, Groom, Beaumont & Retallack manage to secure one shot for the win.

Well done to both teams for providing such an epic decider for the large, assembled crowd, who enjoyed every moment of a fantastic contest.

Yamba men’s Pennant sides have commenced the Divisional Pennants season with mixed results to date.

The Div 2 side are currently running second in that division behind the strong Ballina club but are certainly within striking distance and if they can maintain a winning record over the next three rounds are a strong chance of taking out their section. Bowl well lads!

The other two divisions both started off with wins in the first round but have struggled with consistency since and will require a small miracle to advance from their respective divisions.

Our next championship event is the Mixed Fours with the nomination sheet now posted on the notice board with the closing date being Wednesday August 24 at 4.30pm.
