The last day of play for 2024 on Wednesday December 11 saw 28 players arrive to enjoy the morning. There were some strangely dressed among the group, Christmas presents, Christmas trees, strange looking hats with pom poms, lights and tinsel and a lot of very colourful T shirts.
Not too many games were taken seriously, and no scores were recorded, which was just as well as there was a little too much frivolity around the greens, although Meg hit a hoop to hoop to top off the morning.
At 11.30am players, plus a couple who couldn’t play met in the River Boat rooms at the Bowling Club, where we were joined by the club CEO Greg for a delicious lunch. Greg had the pleasure of judging the best costume, won by Wayne (Christmas present) Gail (Christmas tree) and Helen runner up (Christmas present). He also judged the best crayon drawing on the tablecloth won by talented artist David. Trophies (made by John) were won by Helen and Gail who tied for the greatest number of hoop-to-hoop shots, and Rosemary for the most direct hits on the centre post for the year.
A big thank you to the green keepers for setting up the greens each week for our games and Yamba Bowling Club for the support and assistance they provide throughout the year.
Fay and John Church who do so much in the organisation of the games, outings and events. Their commitment is very much appreciated by all who have the pleasure in being part of this group.
If you are looking for something to fill in a Wednesday morning, come along to the Yamba Bowling Club and have a friendly game of croquet, have some fun and enjoy the outdoors. Play will resume on Wednesday January 8. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and we wish you a Happy New Year.
