Grafton Golf Club, together with Yamba Golf Club hosted a regional qualifying event on the weekend with the eventual winner gaining a place in the 2016 NSW Open Golf Championship scheduled for November 10. The qualifier was open to the best amateurs from around the country and attracted a high class field.
With a score of 137, the winner from Burleigh Heads, Lucas Higgins, backed up his 71 hits in Yamba with a great round of just 66 around the Grafton Championship Course. Next best was a Queensland State Player, Charles Dawn with 2 rounds of 70 at Yamba and 68 around Grafton (total 138).
