Tuesday October 15
We all enjoy a well-contested final – and this one was certainly no exception. Spectators were treated to a very close game between Wynne Bell, Judy Abbott and Cathryn Aitchison who lined up against Lois Duncan, Lorraine Asbury and Marie Stone. It was Marie and Co who held the lead for most of the game but only by a very small margin. Things hotted up towards the end of the game when on the 18th end Marie dropped a 4 – but team Marie rallied from there winning 2 of the next 3 ends to win the game by 3 shots – 18-15. Congratulations to all players on a very entertaining final and to Marie and her team – our Triples Champions for 2019.
Also on the green was the reigning ‘Princess of the Green’ Ruthie Fletcher defending her title against Vicky Beddow. Ruthie got off to a slow start allowing Vicki to hold the lead for a few ends but then hit her straps on the 12th end taking the lead and remaining in front for the rest of the game. Congratulations Ruthie and to Vicki for a great effort to dethrone Ruthie. Marker was Raels McKibbin. Ruthie also took out the winner’s prize for the day.
In social bowls the runners-up were G. L. Davis (swinger), I. Neill, V. Terry d G .L. Davis, M. Thompson, R. Dickson. Consolation went to J. Sutherland (v), H. Atkinson d by S. Lindsay, C. Cole and in other games J. Stamp, R. Moore, G. Davis d M. McBey, B. Cross, C. Ritale; P. Conley, M. Abbott d M. Durante, J. Button.
