Motorists on the NSW north coast are being asked to have their say on the section of Pacific Highway duplication between Wells Crossing and Glenugie.

Transport for NSW Director Region North Anna Zycki said this eight kilometre section of highway duplication forms part of the $4.9 billion Woolgoolga to Ballina upgrade of the highway, jointly funded by the Australian and NSW governments, and is being built with contractor Lendlease.

“Motorists are experiencing continued improvements in safety and travel times along the Pacific Highway,” Ms Zycki said.

“Design refinements have been made to three intersections on this stretch of the highway following a careful review of similar intersections in the area, including the Kungala Road intersection, with road users now asked to comment on these proposed changes.”

Ms Zycki said the design changes were for the intersections at Parker, Bald Knob and Franklins roads.

“The changes were made to improve safety and include removing direct right turns to access these roads, which will instead be accessed via U-turn facilities,” Ms Zycki said.

“There will also be additional fauna fencing and a cattle grid on the new Parker Road access road to prevent wild horses and other fauna from accessing the highway.”
