Work has begun on showground pavilion

Construction has begun on the new pavilion at the Maclean Showground.

The new pavilion will replace the 100-year-old heritage listed pavilion which was destroyed during a severe storm on 2 January 2018.

The pavilion’s replacement will cost up to $1,032,000, as agreed between Clarence Valley Council and the insurance company.

At the February CVC meeting, councillors authorised the general manager to approve variations up to the amount of the agreed insurance funds.

“Conditions of the development application included the construction of a new pavilion utilising [and or] featuring the salvaged trusses, windows, floor boards and wall cladding components of the [original] building to acknowledge and preserve the heritage,” the report to council stated.
