Officers from the Coffs/Clarence Highway Patrol were quick to pull over a speeding driver on December 2.

Just before 5pm, an 18-year-old man from Woombah was caught travelling at almost 150km/h on Yamba Road near Maclean.

The officers, who were conducting mobile speed enforcement at the time, stopped the Holden Commodore and questioned the driver who revealed he was the holder of a P1 Provisional licence.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was issued with an infringement for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and had his license suspended for six months.

P1 Provisional license holders cannot exceed a speed limit of 90km/h.

Police are also advising drivers to take extra precautions on the road as the Christmas holidays approach with double demerits to be enforced between December 24 and January 3.
