Bar staff at the Yamba Shores Tavern have been busy being as ugly as possible (Understanding Generous Likeable You] in their quest to raise funds during October for the Leukaemia Foundation. “U.G.L.Y. Bartender of the Year is an inspiring fundraising campaign … [where] bartenders create events, fundraisers, games and experiences that patrons in their venues will embrace,” says uglybartender.org.au. The tavern’s venue manager, Kerry Marsh, said the family fun day held on Sunday afternoon “was fantastic, with lots of families and everyone having a great time”. “I’d like to thank all who supported the day,” she said. Money was raised during October through various raffles, including that of a framed Parramatta NRL jersey, which was signed by the team at the beginning of the season. Yesterday, a raffle for a bat donated by former Australian captain Mark Taylor and signed by Channel 9 cricket commentators – Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh, Mark Healy, Ian Chappell, Brett Lea, Michael Slater, David Lloyd, Michael Clarke, Michael Hussy, Mark Nicholas, Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne – was drawn.
