Welcome one… welcome all

Yamba Museum volunteer staff have been busy in the past month with catch-up meetings, organising and planning for the coming year. The Old Kirk once again comes to life with artist exhibitions and weddings. Behind the scenes the researchers continue to source our history and document and digitise photographs. The Collection Team are sifting through items ensuring everything is correctly accessioned and logged. The display crew are planning how they will display the next coming attraction.

However, most needed are the wonderful volunteers at the front desk, greeting and recording visitors to the Museum and ensuring Covid entry protocols. There is a misconception that you need to know everything about the displays – you certainly do not!

“You learn as you go!” I was informed, and being surrounded by such interesting displays and stories it doesn’t take long to know where to find, or direct, people to seek their answers.

At present the Museum is in need of 20 volunteers to assist with the front desk. If you can spare 3.5 hours once a month on one day – morning or afternoon – which suits you, the Committee would be most grateful. You do need to be a member but that can be achieved by filling out a form accompanied by your $20 annual membership fee. You will meet like minded people who are passionate about recording and displaying the history of our town. Of course there are the fun events of exhibition and display launches where a tipple or a cuppa is enjoyed.
Come on board!
