Oscar Tamsen’s comprehensive historical recount of past disasters (CVI 4/10/20) is commendable but his climate change conclusion is laughable.
The earth’s cyclical climate change occurs over hundreds of years, if not millenia.
Global warming is caused by the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere due to human activity since the start of the Industrial Revolution.
The resultant changes are measurable over decades ie the speed of change makes them anything but naturally occurring.
As soon as anyone says climate change has been around forever recognise immediately that such a person is a sceptic climate change denier refuting the accepted science.
These same individuals are also ignoring the obvious measurable effects of global warming eg. worldwide retreat of glaciers, rising ocean temperature, acidification of oceans, melting permafrost, etc. etc.
I’m sorry Oscar but we certainly do have something to worry about!
