Apprentice jockey Leah Kilner remains in a stable condition as she continues to recover from injuries sustained in a shocking race fall.

Kilner was dislodged from her mount Stella’s Turn at Grafton on July 3 when the two-year-old filly tragically went amiss.

Following the incident, the popular young rider was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane by the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter, and later underwent surgery to relieve pressure on her brain prior to being placed in an induced coma.

She was cleared of spinal injuries but sustained fractures to her ribs and clavicle.

A statement released by Racing NSW at 9:45am on July 5, revealed Kilner had briefly come out of her coma and squeezed her mother’s hand.

A following statement released by Racing NSW at 5pm on July 10 revealed Kilner is continuing to make positive progress.

She has been moved from the intensive care unit (ICU), has had her breathing tube removed, and is reportedly remaining awake for longer periods and speaking to her family.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up to raise funds in support of the 24-year-old.

At the time of publication, more than $55000 had been raised.
