Two very different authors will present talks at the library in Grafton next week.
Scott Whitaker has just released his second volume of Railway Hotels of Australia.
It includes a chapter on Grafton and talks of an old railway hotel about eight kilometres south of Grafton.
In his book he describes how it closed and the licence was transferred to the new Hotel Motel Five a little further north.
“I’ve also written about the importance of Grafton as a rail centre especially before they built the bridge,” he said.
Regional librarian, Kathryn Breward, said the talk would interest historians, researchers, genealogists and those interested in the past.
Focusing on NSW, he will cover the coming of the railway, the social development of regional NSW, researching tips, genealogy, local and state history, and publishing.
Annie Seaton is a Mid North Coast author who was voted Australian Author of the Year by romance readers in the AusRomToday.com Readers’ Choice Awards. Annie is visiting to promote her latest book, Daintree.
Both events are free and tea and coffee will be provided. Each author will have books available for purchase on the day.
