Triples Championships continue at the GDSC

Because of club circumstances last weekend, there was only one match able to be played in our Major Triples Championship for 2022.

This was a second-round encounter which matched John Hall, Neil Holt & Kevin Jones (Skip) against Gary Harrison, Robbie Power & Keith Garner (Skip)…and what a match it turned out to be with the result in doubt right throughout the game.

Keith’s team had the better start, winning the first three ends to lead 5 – 0, however Kevins men hit straight back winning the following three ends themselves to level the scores at 5 all.

The next four ends were split ‘two a piece,’ but it was Keith’s boys who found themselves leading 11 – 8 by virtue of scoring 4 shots on the 10th end.

Again, the next four ends were split ‘two a piece,’ by which time Keith Garner’s boys had retained their three-shot lead (15 – 12) and continued on to dominate the middle stages of the match to lead 20 – 14 at the nineteen-end mark.

Kevin’s men, however, were not about to lie down, winning the next three ends to close the margin to 1 shot 19 – 20 with three ends to play. Keith picked up singles on ends 23 & 24 to lead 22 – 19, but Kevins men finished well scoring 3 shots on the final end to level the scores once again at 22 all.

An extra end was required to decide the winner, and it was Keith Garner’s boys who held their nerve under pressure to score 3 shots and claim victory 25 shots to 22…a great game from both teams…. well played guys.
