Traffic changes to improve safety and congestion on the Pacific Highway at West Ballina

North Coast road users will soon benefit from safer and smoother journeys with traffic changes on the northbound off ramp and roundabout at the Ballina interchange on the Pacific Highway.
Transport for NSW will implement changes to the traffic turning movements overnight on Friday 29 November.
The left lane will continue to allow a left turn towards Lismore and will now be used by those continuing north on the Pacific Highway towards Tweed Heads.
The right lane will change to only allow a right turn towards Ballina or a U-turn back onto the Pacific Highway towards Coffs Harbour.
All other turning arrangements remain unchanged.
Transport for NSW Regional Director North Anna Zycki said that during busy travel times, traffic on the northbound off ramp could queue back on to the Pacific Highway, increasing the risk of crashes and causing both delays and frustration to road users.
“Changing the traffic turning movements will improve efficiency and reduce congestion,” Ms Zycki said.
New signage and line marking will be installed to guide motorists.
Transport for NSW will continue to monitor safety and queuing at the interchange.
