The Gold Coast Titans National Rugby League (NRL) club has added Clarence Coast Magpies U15s player Ethan Foster to its roster of high performance unit players. Following being spotted by Titans recruitment manager, Dave Hamilton, at the Group One trials earlier in the year, Foster was invited to attend a six-week, high intensity program at Ballina. He joined five other U15 players and six U16 players at the program. Foster was then monitored during the CHS State Championships and Group Country Championships, and was one of two U15 players invited to an open day at the Titans High Performance Unit. He has subsequently accepted an offer of a two and a half year scholarship to attend the Titans High Performance Unit (HPU), held twice a week at Robina. He joins four other 15-year-olds at the HPU, which aims to develop the skills required to progress into the Titans’ senior ranks. During the two and a half hour sessions, players learn defensive tactics and attacking lines, etcetera, followed by a personally designed weight program. Foster will continue playing locally for the Clarence Coast Magpies, and will be monitored via Dropbox videos of his games.
