Timely show of appreciation

He has been a familiar face at the Grafton Greyhound Racing Club for more than 40 years.

A tireless worker with passionate enthusiasm, and a dedication to the industry so strong, many who know him good naturedly refer to his loving wife Joan as a widow of the club, given his long working hours and unwavering commitment to his job.

In between races on day five of the Grafton Greyhound Racing Club 2022 July Racing Carnival on July 13, President John Corrigan was gifted a token of appreciation, a beautiful pocket watch, by committee members as a timely reminder of his loyalty to the club.

His wife was also graciously acknowledged for her ongoing support and presented with a bouquet of flowers.

“If you enjoy doing something, you’ll do it, and I enjoy it, and when I stop enjoying it, I won’t do it any longer,” Mr Corrigan said following the presentation.

“But until then, Joan is going to have to put up with it,” he added with a smile.

“It’s a team effort.

“We’ve got a great committee, we work well together, and I’ll continue to do this job for as long as the members want me to do it.”
