Thought about playing bridge?

We are pleased to report that September saw the commencement of a regular social bridge session in Yamba. Under COVID restrictions, this is a social event, and not part of the official bridge club. We will hold a weekly competition using score cards and travellers, and results will be published weekly.

Our venue is the Yamba Golf Club, in the restaurant area. Here we will be screened off from the public and there is ample room for the required social distancing – and hand sanitiser is provided. The session is free, but you are encouraged to buy your lunch at the club (and there’s plenty of choices available). You will need to arrive at the Golf Club at 10am and enter via the front door to comply with the current sign in requirements – and be seated in the restaurant area to begin bridge at 10:15am. We will play two sessions, with a break for lunch, giving you the option of joining in a morning or afternoon session, or both. The afternoon session will commence at 1pm.

Our first meeting was held on September 1. A close contest saw Mary Francis and Helen Ditchfield just ahead of Jill Causley and Julie Burley in the North/South section, and Alan Marr and Paul Vallis heading Sheila Monie and Sonya McLennan in the East/West section. On September 9 we changed to a Howell movement which saw Sheila Monie and Sonya McLennan win the close morning contest from Judy Turnbull and Barbara Mahoney-Smith who tied with Alan Marr and Paul Vallis. The afternoon session saw Annie Green and Phyllis Telfer clear winners from Jill Causley and Julie Burley.

If you are interested in playing bridge in very pleasant surroundings, in a very friendly atmosphere, drop in on a Tuesday to join in the fun.

If you need a partner for the day, please call Phyllis on 0400 461 316.
