Ed,
It has now been reported that Clarence Valley Council has been ordered by the Land and Environment Court, to pay a $300,000 fine for destroying an Aboriginal Scar Tree.
When you add the legal costs to that and the grovelling full page apologies in the print media, the total cost to the ratepayer approaches the $400,000 mark.
So where is the grovelling apology to the ratepayers?
To the Councillor who stated that the funds from the sale of the Grafton Tourist Information property could be better used elsewhere: Is this the “elsewhere” the good Councillor had in mind?
