Temporary closures of McFarlane Bridge for essential maintenance

Roads and Maritime Services advises motorists half-day closures are planned this week for essential maintenance work to be carried out on McFarlane Bridge at Maclean. McFarlane Bridge has significant state and local heritage value as it is one of only three metal bascule type bridges across the state. Restoration work is being carried out to ensure the bridge continues to serve the community of Maclean into the future. On Thursday 8 and Tuesday 13 October the bridge will be closed from 9.30am to 2.30pm, weather permitting, for the safe removal and restoration of the bridge towers. During the closures motorists are advised to use South Arm Road crossing at Brushgrove as an alternative route. Road users should allow extra travel time, follow all temporary traffic signage and the direction of traffic control. Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while the essential work is completed.
