Tell Council how you want them to engage

Clarence Valley residents have until April 23 to provide submissions or feedback to Council concerning its draft Community Engagement Strategy 2025 – 2029.

Based on social justice principles, Clarence Valley Council’s draft Community Engagement Strategy CES 2025 – 2029 details how Council engages with its community to prepare Integrated Planning and Reporting IP and R strategies.

The IP and R framework is established in NSW to guide the way Councils develop, document, report and deliver long-term plans for their community.

To better inform this process, Council is inviting people from the community to provide input about the CES, and how they want to be informed and engaged about decisions that impact them.

This community input will be used to assist in drafting the Community Engagement and Participation Plan, which when adopted by Council will guide how Council notifies and delivers engagement with the community that provides meaningful ways for the community to participate in shaping the future of the region.

The March 20, Council meeting agenda states “the revised draft CSP will include the five themes – Community, Infrastructure, Economy, Environment and Leadership, with five objectives for each theme to create the Valley’s ten-year vision.”

At the meeting Councillors voted unanimously to support the motion that Council endorse the following documents for public exhibition from March 21, 2025, until May 5, 2025.

  1. Draft Community Strategic Plan ‘The Clarence 2035’.
  2. Draft Community Engagement Strategy (including Community Participation Plan)

Council has scheduled Drop-in sessions regarding the Community Engagement Strategy at Grafton and Maclean where members of Council’s Executive Team will be present.
