Tartan Brushy RSL Day Club

Spring has brought several members back to us. We had the Country Ramblers to entertain on our final week in September together with our monthly birthdays and trading table. Our members enjoy being recognised for their birthdays, and of several now in their 90’s feel quite proud.

Our first October meeting was another great day JPR’S Retreat, a great new trio with lots of good music. The day was also a theme day ‘Going to the Ballet’ and members had been asked to dress up for the occasion. Little did they know the Tartan Tutu Ballet School conducted by Madam Francine and her talented pupils would be making an appearance. It was great fun and thanks to the wonderful volunteers for taking part. Ballet memorabilia was handed around. Members may have remembered taking part in a ballet class or going to a performance. An interesting fact was revealed that the rail along one of the walls was erected to use as a ballet barre for a ballet class.

Another wonderful treat when ‘Let’s All Sing’ visited us, a wonderful morning of song including a surprise tap dancing routine… how lucky were we. We then had an activity day the theme being travel. Members related their travel experiences and there were discussions of travel from the pioneering days til now.

At the last meeting of the month Yamba Life Care visited us and we were entertained by the ‘Grafton Ukes’. A lovely happy morning. After lunch Jenny presented the letter ‘P’and we took a trip down memory lane with items beginning with the letter ‘P’.

Our next meeting will be the crowning of the Jacaranda Queen and Princess. Members were asked to come in their purple. New members, volunteers and speakers are always welcome. For enquiries contact Murray Fowke on 6645 3328.
