Tartan Brushy RSL Day Club

We have had a busy time recently and it’s good to see everyone on these cold mornings. Uniting Life Care from Yamba and the residents of Mareeba came to visit and there were a large number of birthdays last month ‘The Country Ramblers’ gave us a great morning of music and songs, Bingo and a quiz closed the day.

David and Jim have entertained us and there was a volunteer’s meeting on July 5 where we all enjoyed lunch together afterwards. We had a busy day on July 9 plus a new member which is always good news. ‘Full Circle’ entertained us and there was singing and dancing complete with grass skirts and leis. July 16 was another great morning with Allison and her line dancers who gave us a great toe-tapping time.

The kitchen did us proud with Marja’s home-made kitchen soup and a delicious dessert-great on a chilly day. We took time to discuss the forthcoming ‘Brushy’s Got Talent Show’. Our big day arrived for the show and seven tables participated and everyone enjoyed the many and varied items. There were poems, quirky nursery rhymes, and singing and life stories. We will do it again. Thank you, all this was fun and you all did well with only two weeks to prepare.

We also had a beanie and teddy bear day. Bears were introduced and their stories told.

Volunteers have attended an area meeting in Yamba where they discussed Club matters and meet with other volunteers.

We are looking forward to our Christmas in August lunch.

New members, volunteers and entertainers and speakers are always welcome.
