Alongside the social bowlers, Queen Kaye Mason was defending her title from a very keen Sue Lindsay. Sadly, the Queen was forced to forfeit as she took a little poorly and handed the precious jewels to Sue to defend with her life.
On Thursday 8 she was to the test as the very experienced Wendy Ballantyne attempted to wrest it from her.
Also, there was an early game of consistency between Marie Stone and Janine Boyd as Janine was unavailable on the Thursday for the first round. Janine took the honours with a score of 150-92 and was to meet her next contender in the second round on Tuesday October 13 (results to come). Marker was Judy Pryor.
