Spring has sprung for Yamba lady golfers

It was wonderful to have 68 ladies in last Wednesday’s competition. Conditions were blissfully perfect which may have accounted for the large number of participants and the high scores posted by many.

Div 1 was won by Glen Czarnota (38pts) and r/up was Margaret Fishburn with 37pts c/b. In Div 2, Robyn Wiblen came in winner with 39pts, ahead of Denise Ginn (37pts c/b). Deirdre Gough was thrilled to win Div 3 with 38pts. Likewise, Ann Schuhmacher was a very happy r/up recipient with 35pts.

NTPs were awarded to: (Yamba Medical Centre 3rd) Margaret Fishburn; (Yamba Florist, Debbie May 2nd on 3rd) Lyn Saggers; (Leonie May Millinery 2nd on 9th) Jill L. Brown; (Yamba Fair Butchery 10th) Trish McDermid; (The Shoe Boutique 12th) Jeannie Doolan; (Clovelly Fashions 17th) Jenny Dewar and (The Block 2nd on 17th) Colleen Bamback. Balls were awarded to 34 pts c/b.

There were 13 ladies in last Wednesday’s nine-hole competition. Sonya McLennan took the honours with a score of 16pts while Sue Quilty and our very welcomed new member, Jo Scott, won the NTP. Well done ladies!

Last Friday’s Single Stableford event had 39 participants with the gusty, showery conditions deterring a few of our usual players. With only one grade, Kathy Lollback won with an excellent score of 39pts after returning to golf from a shoulder injury. Jeannie Doolan was r/up with 38pts, followed by 2nd r/up Terri Collingburn on 37pts c/b.

NTP winners were: (Flots and Jets 3rd) Jeannie Doolan; (Valley Finance 2nd on 3rd) Sandra Russo; (Peter Campbell Physio 2nd on 3rd) Kathy Parker; (Kitchen To Table 10th) Trish White; (Melt Massage & Beauty 12th) Jeannie Doolan; (Yamba Ladies 17th) Margaret Solomon and (Yamba Pharmacy 2nd on 17th)  Julie Vernol. Balls were awarded to 33.

Nine ladies played in perfect conditions last Saturday morning. Our winner was Darrie Nightingale with an impressive 40pts with Mary Hogan posting 38pts on countback from Jenny Moody. Mary also won the NTP. Great golfing ladies!

Finally, a reminder that nominations for next Wednesday’s 27-hole Foursomes Championships can still be made by completing the entry form which has been placed on the ladies’ locker room table. This sheet will also be brought into the Green Room on Wednesday and Friday for those ladies who do not normally access the locker room.
