Wednesday December 12 – men’s social bowls afternoon
Last social game for the year, just two rinks needed but it was good to see Tim Newsome back.
The weather was fine and the results from the two matches were:
Rink (1), J Betts (swinging lead), A Rose & T Newsome d J Betts (SL), L Andrew & T Latter 24-7; Rink (2). B Kenny & P Gillespie d T Cameron & C Roger 25-7.

The lucky player went to John Betts and the competition prizes to Andrew Rose, Barney Kenny & Taz Cameron
Friday December 14 – men’s mixed Christmas party
What a lovely afternoon with a really festive mood on the Green and off, with carols belting out the Christmas message and blingy shirts sparkling in the sunshine. How lucky we were last week getting our parties in, goodness knows the weather forecasts were less than encouraging. There were five rinks and a lovely meal to finish with; hard to beat. It was good to see past members June & Ray Cornell join us and my afternoon was a little special with my son Marc joining me for his first game. You did okay too Marc, think you’d better join up in 2019 eh?
The results from the games were:
Winning Rink (5). B Kenny, A Rose, R Cornell.
The chook ends went to Enid McKew & Denise McLachlan and the resting toucher to Mark Bettison The several special Christmas prizes were fairly well split up amongst those attending.
Once again the events committee put on a great spread, but just before we all sat down to do it justice; the members presented President Enid McKew and Rob Hodge with bouquets in acknowledgment of all the many hours they give to our club; a very pleasant afternoon and evening all in all.
Sunday December 16 – mixed social bowls morning.
The very last games before the Green goes out for a rest, the weather mindfully stayed fine until all were back in the club rooms enjoying yet another Christmas lunch topped off with a delish Pavlova; can’t beat that.

Well that’s it for 2018 everybody, here’s hoping 2019 is our best season yet. Take care, enjoy time with your families and I’ll see you on the Green in 2019.
