South Grafton CWA Evening Branch

Kevin Dixon was our guest speaker at the May meeting and again amazed us with his fabulous photos – this time the Snow Monkeys of Japan. Kevin takes great pains to capture the perfect shot by being in uncomfortable places and positions. Thank you for your time Kevin – we have followed you through most of your journeys through your photos. Can’t wait for the next one. President Gai thanked members for their work at the Grafton Show in April when we served Devonshire teas to show patrons on both Friday and Saturday. They were long days cooking fresh scones in the pavilion kitchen but also enjoyable meeting so many people and seeing them resting and chatting over a cuppa and scones. Money raised will be spent on CWA projects and local charities. CWA medical research this year is Lymes disease and we will be supporting this to help unravel this medical mystery, $35,000 was presented to the researchers at State Conference from funds raised state-wide last year. Bob Graham from Grafton Gem Club shared with us his interest in all things ‘rocks’ at our April meeting. He had a lovely display to show us from his collection and we enjoyed feeling the stones and learning of their origin. Thanks again Bob for joining us. Two members attended the recent State CWA Conference at Cowra and gave us a brief report of the interesting events held and motions passed for consideration. Our next monthly meeting is on 2nd Thursday of the month is June 9 at CWA Rooms, Grafton at 7pm. New members are always welcome to join us. Our next Group Council meeting will be held at Woolgoolga on June 16 and our branch will be responsible for the trading table. Donations can be brought to our next meeting or phone 6642 5297 for pick-up. Barb Green
