Sounds of Silence

A team of constructors from Sydney has been making a big noise in Grafton last week. Their deafening activity has been directed at FM 103.1 Loving Life’s brand new sound-proofed studios. To keep out all external sound sources, the studios require a totally silent-setting, so any unintended noise does not reach the station’s listeners. The group of licenced volunteers MMM (Mobile Mission Maintenance) with the motto ‘Serving those who serve’, have been in Grafton all week erecting a double-framed live-to-air studio and a production studio. These studios have a specialised acoustic insulation and five layers of Gyprock cladding to retard any incursions of unwanted noise. Team leader, Les Schwebel said, “We were pleased to answer the station’s request for emergency assistance. We travel all over the state to help with community projects.” President of FM 103.1 Loving Life Ken Tucker said, “We are grateful to have the contribution of this professional team to bring us state-of -the art sound studios. The station expects to have its digital age facilities ready for re-launch and official opening next month.
