Small, intimate and acoustic

In February 2020, Patrick Roberts began working towards establishing an acoustic music group “with something of a ‘folk’ bias”, he says.

The inaugural meeting was held and a private concert or two was held … then Covid-19 hit. “The plan was to hold regular concerts showcasing local talent and, occasionally, more high-profile acts,” Patrick says. “For several months it was not possible to gather together, and concerts were out of the question. “When restrictions eased, a couple of shows were put on and were well received by those who came.

“By then, however, some of the initial enthusiasm had been diverted into other projects and some musicians had moved on, so little progress has been made this year.” But now the time has come to “re-boot the enterprise” says Patrick. “This is a callout to all local musicians,” he says, “particularly, but not exclusively to those with a keen interest in folk music, who would like the opportunity to perform in a small, intimate venue where the audience is specifically requested not to talk during the performance.”
