Shaeffer House happenings and news

Our volunteers are working hard to make Shaffer House a great place to learn about our history. We are preparing displays in March and April for the Copmanhurst Shire before amalgamation and the 150th Anniversary of the first show of the Clarence Pastoral and Agricultural Society formation in 1866. The showground moved to the present site in Prince Street in 1906. We are working with the Show Society to enhance their display in the pavilion in show week. If you have any relevant photos for these displays we would be happy to scan or copy them. They would then be kept here in our archives at Shaeffer House. Future displays during the year will be: Ambulance Station; Prince Edward Theatre; 2NR commenced; 3rd St Patrick Church South Grafton; Memorial Olympic Pool; Shaeffer House purchased; Peters Ice Creamery closed; New factory for Match Company Southgate Food. Also on display at the library are all of the churches pre 1900 by Wendy Brown next to display of lovely green glass from Glenreagh. Shaeffer House is located at 190 Fitzroy Street, Grafton and is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 1-4pm
