Residents in Lismore will be able to access Service NSW and Australia Post services in one convenient location, as part of a trial disaster rebuilding program to help disaster impacted communities recover.
Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Victor Dominello said a Service NSW Mobile Service Centre is now co-located with an Australia Post Mobile Post Office in the Lismore Workers Golf Club car park.
“It is vital for government organisations to work together and support residents in flood-affected communities by providing them with easy access to a range of services in one easy location,” Mr Dominello said.
“Customers can visit the Service NSW and Australia Post teams from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday to complete more than 1,000 government transactions and services, including replacing licences and birth certificates, while also making postal, identity, financial and banking transactions.
“Service NSW is working towards a continued partnership with Australia Post to bring immediate and coordinated emergency response efforts if and when required.”
Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience and Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke said this initiative would help streamline the recovery process for those impacted by the recent flooding.
“Flood-affected residents and business owners need support as quickly as possible, with this co-location of Service NSW and Australia Post to provide a great one-stop-shop for services,” Ms Cooke said.
“This initial co-location of the mobile services in Lismore will be available for three days until Friday 22 April, with both organisations then looking to provide support to other flood-affected towns in regional NSW.”
Australia Post Group Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director Paul Graham said the co-location would ensure locals could maintain access to its services such as receiving and sending post, organising identification photos, and accessing important banking and financial services.
“We look forward to people visiting our Mobile Post Office as we work with Service NSW to help ensure we can support the local community’s needs while the town rebuilds,” Mr Graham said.
“The co-located trial will also allow Service NSW and Australia Post to work together over the coming months to see how our two agencies can better work together for the benefit of local communities.
“This will include identifying where we can trial the co-located model in other regional areas in the coming months.”
The Service NSW Mobile Service Centre has been relocated to the Lismore Golf Club, from Southern Cross University, and will remain there until a temporary Lismore Service Centre is opened at the site.
The Service NSW team is also stationed at the Community Hub in Lismore’s CBD, to assist customers to register for the Disaster Relief Grant. Service NSW is next to Services Australia and the pop-up Coles Supermarket in the Harold Fredericks Carpark at the corner of Magellen Street and Dawson Street.
