Scoring a goal for the community

Lynne Mowbray | The community of Crystal Waters in Yamba has benefited from a State government grant which has been awarded to the Clarence Valley Council for the upgrading of infrastructure in Hakea Park. The NSW Government grant of $48,499 from the ‘Social Housing Community Improvement Fund’ will go towards enhancing the recreational area by including a half basketball court, multi-sport goal posts and park furniture. Clarence MP Chris Gulaptis said the upgrading of the park is terrific value for the residents of Crystal Waters and Yamba. “This $50,000 towards building a half court basketball area and a couple of goal posts and some seating, I think it will be a terrific amenity for those residents,” Mr Gulaptis said. Clarence Valley Mayor, Jim Simmons said that he wanted to thank Chris for his efforts and for what he is getting for the Clarence Valley, in the way of funding. “For what he’s been able to get for this area (Hakea Park), I think is tremendous,” he said.
