Rural landholders are being urged to have their say on the direction of Local Land Services – the frontline agency that helps farmers and communities look after their land and environments.
Voting is starting soon for election of 34 Local Land Services board members around the state.
“With drought, fires and floods having a major impact on regional NSW, it is crucial we continue to have strong leadership,” said State Chair of Local Land Services, Richard Bull.
“Our boards play an important part in keeping the agency local and relevant in each of the 11 regions around New South Wales,” Mr Bull said.
Anyone who is a Local Land Services ratepayer aged over 18 can have their say in the board elections, but they need to get a voting pack now.
“We understand not everyone is digitally savvy or has good online access, so there is the option of getting a voting pack by post, but time is running out for that option,” said Mr Bull.
“It is a priority for ratepayers to tell Local land Services how they would like to receive their voting pack, either by post or online,” Mr Bull said.
To register people can:
- go to the home page of the Local Land Services website www.lls.nsw.gov.au and click on ‘board elections’ and choose postal or online voting pack
- by calling 1300 795 299
Key dates:
- Request a postal voting pack by 5pm Monday 30 March
- Request an electronic voting pack by 5pm Wednesday 6 May
- Voting opens on Thursday 9 April
- Voting closes at AEST 5pm Friday 8 May
- Election results will be announced in June
Mr Bull encouraged all Local Land Services ratepayers to have their say in the strategic direction, service delivery and advocacy of the interests of their region.
“Your vote is your voice in this important poll for rural and regional NSW,” Mr Bull said.
