Running whilst parked

Ed,

I’m seeing a lot of parked cars with engines running to keep the air conditioner going. Are the drivers so fragile they can’t stand a few minutes of heat while they talk on their phone or post that urgent Facebook update?

Feel the warmth of that exhaust choking people walking by.

Sometimes a window’s open so the occupant can smoke! Sometimes there’s not even a driver in the vehicle!

Do we need more shady carparks? More trees, yes, but it happens in undercover carparks as well, where air quality is of more concern.

Such selfish, short-sighted, entitled, FU behaviour.

Mind you, in a larger context, developing countries feel the same way about our whole pampered way of life, mindless consumption and waste.
