Restrictions lifted for Yamba lady golfers

Last week has seen some of the restrictions being lifted; however, strict physical distancing rules still apply.

Saturday was our first opportunity to play in groups of four after modified playing restrictions implemented by Golf NSW were lifted. While it is nowhere near as quick a game as playing with just two, it is certainly lovely to have the connection with others again.

We had 68 players in last Wednesday’s competition. This number far exceeds what we would normally have had in a single Stableford competition prior to the Covid-19 situation.

With three grades, scores were very strong and balls were awarded to 35pts c/b.

The Div 1 winner was Janelle Carpenter (39pts) with Darrie Nightingale (38pts) following closely behind.

The winner in Div 2 was Jenny Muir (40pts) and the runner up was Jenny Dewar (39pts).

Noni Rixon (37pts) took out the honours in Div 3 and, once again, Fred McDougall was the ‘bridesmaid’ with 36 points.

In our nine-hole competition, we had 10 ladies participating. Annie Green was the winner with 18pts. Well done ladies!

It was a little cool for our early starters on Friday but by mid-morning it was a perfect day for golf. Congratulations to the following ladies who were in the winning circle. Di Sigle, who has been playing some great golf in recent weeks, was the Div 1 winner, coming in with 39 points. New member, Jeanne Jensen was our runner up (35pts c/b). Both Jenny Dewar and Glen Czarnota have featured in Div 2 results recently. Jenny won with 39 points and Glen was runner up (37pts). We were all thrilled for Kathy Lollback who was the Div 3 winner (37pts). Gayle Stanfield also came in strongly as runner up with 36 points. Congratulations to our winners!

Last Saturday we had 12 ladies playing in very mixed conditions – showery, windy and sunny! Our winner, with a lovely 36 points, was Jill Brown and runner up with 33 points was Gail Scobie, on a c/b from Gillian Holst and Kathy Parker. Considering the conditions these were great scores ladies!

With this week’s Stroke round signalling some sense of normality to our golfing program, our ladies will undoubtedly be looking forward to having some variety in the formats we will play each week.
