In 2020, COVID saw the cancellation of all State representative hockey.

It was with great excitement that last weekend saw the return of State Championships, with the over 34’s & over 65s Men’s Masters being held at the Central Coast. While Grafton did not have the numbers for their own teams, a couple of our keen members, Andrew Terrey & Dennis Greensill, offered their services to Manning Valley and competed as well.

Results were unavailable at the time of going to press. Next on the rep hockey calendar is the Men’s over 40s/45s being hosted in Tamworth. Tamworth now boasts the best facilities in the state, with three high quality surfaces, and will be great hosts for this competition. Those interested in playing should contact Alf Groves via GHA.

Grafton’s Under 18 girls have started their selection trials, with the team to compete in Lismore in May. With the championship just “next door” Grafton is expecting to field a strong team.

A reminder to all prospective Women’s Masters representative players that nominations are due by April 3. The Half State Championships for all age groups will be held in Taree on July 23-25. Forms are available from Karen Napper (see GHA Facebook for contact details).
