There are few men who live on the Clarence River who know as much about fishing as Maclean man Allan Ford. And with a life time of knowledge there are many fishing stories to be remembered and told to those who have the time to listen. One of the amazing stories is the time him and the Ford fishing crew (x 8) had the honour to help the 1958 Tim The Bream crew catch and then tag the fish for the fishing competition. Alan remembers it like it was yesterday. “Jack Davey was there helping us and all the boys were having a great time catching everything. I remember thousands of people in Yamba at the time it was so packed, you couldn’t move. The weather was really lousy with a cyclone swell but all still went fishing trying to catch Tim The Bream. Me and my crew and including my dad didn’t catch anything but we had fun trying. I have a photograph to show for it, it is a prize catch of a memory of us with Jack Davey and that is a keeper as far as I am concerned” Mr Ford said. Tim The Bream is on the 20th – 21st August with plenty of prizes and special events for the whole family. Tickets can be purchased online at Sticky Tickets or at local bait outlets at Yamba, Maclean and Iluka. For more competition information go to Tim The Bream Face Book or contact Gayle Doe on 0417 002 682.
