Regatta season starts

On Sunday September 8, Lower Clarence Rowing Club held the first regatta for the NRRA 2019/2020 season.

Enduring some testing conditions, both the school aged and master rowers performed extremely well and set some good benchmarks to improve upon for the remainder of the season.

Some standout performances included; Molly Dobbin for her win in the womens under 15/16 single scull. Molly tied with Niamh Hopkins to take out the Glenn Brown Trophy for overall pointscore for a Maclean HS competitor, while Royce McIntyre won the Sid Philps Memorial Shield for his performance in the men’s under 15/16 single and also claimed a win in the mens novice single. In the master’s category, Mandy Steel took out the women’s pointscore and was awarded the Joy Hailes Memorial Shield.

A big thanks to all our sponsors; in particular our major sponsors Mareeba Aged Care Maclean & Maclean Bowling Club.

We also appreciate Rosalyn Sampson for allowing us the use of the land to conduct the regatta. To all volunteers and helpers on the day, thank you for helping to ensure the day ran smoothly and for your time.

The next regatta for NRRA regatta for our rowers will be the Murwillumbah Rowing Club Regatta on Sunday September 29, where we look foward to another successful regatta.
