Rain…rain…rain and then more rain

The annual Maclean Hospital Charity Day organised by the Iluka ladies in conjunction with the Yamba ladies was held at Iluka in perfect playing conditions on Monday of last week.

A field of 52 ladies took part in the single Stableford round. Some of our ladies featured in their respective grades. Janette Blair (33pts c/b) won Div 1; Jenny Dewar was 2nd r/up in Div 2 (29pts) and Noni Rixon was r/up (31pts) in Div 3.

Lyn Rowland and Carol MacPherson were NTP winners. Congratulations, ladies.

Many thanks go to the Iluka, Yamba and Maclean lady golfers who participated to boost the fundraising efforts for the Maclean Hospital Auxiliary. The $1200 raised on the day, including funds from our 2022 Opening Day, will assist in the purchase of an Agilla critical care pump for the Emergency Department. Thanks also go to the volunteer cooks who provided such a lovely lunch as well as to those who contributed prizes and the delicious goodies that were enjoyed for afternoon tea. Iluka’s hospitality always makes for a great day’s golf and the event is a perfect opportunity for Yamba, Maclean and Iluka players to reconnect.

With a depleted field numbering 22, Yamba ladies golf Wednesday’s competition only had one grade. The rain came down and then came down some more. It was a deluge! Congratulations to all of those who played the full 18 holes and to our winners including Sandra Russo who came home with a fabulous score of 37pts and Janine Zietsch who was the next best with 34pts. In the absence of the presentation, Sandra took home the beautiful flowers donated by Yamba Florist, Debbie May Flowers.

Our NTP sponsors and winners: Tech Lab 3rd – Leigh Robertson; Yamba Florist, Debbie May 3rd (2nd) – Judy Palich; Leonie May Millinery 9th (2nd) – Ann Schuhmacher; Yamba Fair Butchery 10th – Leigh Robertson; The Shoe Boutique 12th – Carolyn Chester; Clovelly Fashions, Maclean 17th – Di Sigle and The Wobbly Chook 17th (2nd) – Sandra Russo. Balls were awarded to 32pts c/b.

Last Friday’s and Saturday’s competitions did not go ahead due to the rain event.

Weather permitting, this Wednesday’s event is our 2nd Monthly Medal Stroke round, the qualifying round for the Knockout and the start of our annual Eclectic and Gobbler competitions. Friday will be a single Stableford and the 1st Round for those successful as Knockout qualifiers. Good luck to all. Happy golfing.
