Race week at YWBC

Race week glamour overtook Yamba Women’s Bowls  last week, no bowls were played on Tuesday and on Oaks Day Thursday we decided to play indoor bowls to encourage everyone to don their fashionable race gear along with suitable head wear – fascinators were certainly the order of the day.

Judy Abbott made the fashion statement of the day, arriving in full 1920’s flapper fashion – fully beaded dress with flowing bead fringe and a matching beaded headband with feather – looked quite spectacular. She, of course, won the Fashions of the Field prize.

Along with Robyn McPherson, Jude also won the bowling prize, both of them adjusted beautifully to the challenge of playing indoor bowls and keeping their bowls on the mat – most of us spent the morning laughing and chasing bowls off the mat. A ‘hobby horse’ race continued the entertainment for the morning before we enjoyed a selection of finger food delights for lunch.

Back to serious bowling competition this week with the Major Consistency Singles commencing November 12 and the Miner Consistency on November 14.

Entry sheets for Christmas ham day November 28 and our Christmas party on December 10 are on the notice board, make sure you put your names down, also tickets for our Presentation Dinner on December 12 are to be purchased from reception.
