Quilts on show at Lawrence
Over 100 patchwork quilts were on display at the Lawrence Quilt Show, which was held at the Lawrence Hall on Saturday.
Member of the Bluff Point Quilters group Rae Harrison said that she was happy with the crowd numbers at this year’s event.
“They were lined up at the door, when we opened this morning,” she said.
Each year the group put out a new challenge to add interest to the event and to create something different.
“After one of our members was diagnosed with breast cancer, the group decided that this year’s challenge would be ‘something pink’, said Mrs Harrison.
“We didn’t know at the time that this lady was already working on a pink quilt.”
Quilting demonstrations where held at the front of the hall throughout the day for interested onlookers.
The proceeds from the quilt show will go to support ongoing work at the Lawrence Museum.
