Yamba Lions Club has been reasonably busy, conducting Bingo every Monday morning at 10am at the Bowlo Sports & Leisure Yamba and a couple of members conducted the selling of raffle tickets for the Golf Club’s ham nights prior to Christmas.
Our biggest fund raiser was our pancake days at the Blue Dolphin Caravan Park, three days prior to Christmas and four days in the New Year. A big thank you to the members who gave their time during the holidays to carry out these days.
On Sunday February 20, seven members (plus one friend), catered for a BBQ lunch at the Lions Convention which was held over the weekend at the Maclean Showground. This proved very successful.
We are joining in with Clean Up Australia on Saturday March 5, at 8am at Yamba Surf Club. We need people to pick up rubbish along the beaches, others to man a stand at the Surf Club for other volunteers, and people to collect the full rubbish bags and bring back to the Surf Club for Council. Gloves and masks will be provided as well as sunscreen and maybe hats (maybe bring your own). If anyone in the community would like to join with the Lions Club, just turn up at the Surf Club and you will be allocated a job.
At our meeting Thursday March 24, we have a guest from Black Dog Institute coming to speak with us. If anyone would care to come and listen, please contact our secretary on the phone number below.
An Arts & Craft Fair will be held at Bowlo Sports & Leisure Yamba on April 23 – 24. If you would like to have a stall at this Fair, please contact leonie.saunders63@gmail.com for more information and registration form.
On a date to be decided in June, the Club will hold a movie fundraiser of the new Elvis movie which was made at Movie World. Come along and enjoy a delicious morning tea, raffle and chocolate wheel.
