Probus Club of Maclean enjoy Christmas lunch

In opening the December 10 meeting, president Maureen welcomed the 25 members and guests with a special welcome to Rebecca Payne, Janine and Chris Sparks’ daughter and Yamba Probus Club president Bev Mansfield.

In her introduction Maureen informed members that the programme would include interludes from Maureen Castle and Betty Irons and later Connie De Dassel would be leading us in a Christmas musical celebration.

In the absence of John Moore, Ken Muller reported on the visit to the Sanctus Brewery at Townsend. Members were addressed by the head brewer of the and then afterwards partook of a good lunch and conversation.

Maureen then introduced Connie de Dassel as our guest presenter. She offered from her electronic keyboard a programme of sacred and secular Christmas carols and songs. Song books had been handed out to members, and they were encouraged to join in a sing-along with Connie. The talented Connor Willmore also performed several Christmas musical items accompanied by Connie.

President Maureen thanked Connie and Connor for their performances, also thanking Maureen and Betty for their contributions, through their reading of several stories. Members had been treated to a Christmas music extravaganza presented by Connie and Connor. Our appreciation was demonstrated by a loud and long applause. Our appreciation was also extended to Joe de Dassel for assisting in the setting up and transporting the keyboard. At the conclusion we sat down to a two course Christmas lunch, which was enjoyed by all.

The next general meeting will be held at 10am, on February 11; there will be a guest speaker and morning tea.
