Precious points

Angourie surfer Dan Ross has finished fourth at the 2017 Alley Classic, the first of three contests that decide Queensland’s champion, over the weekend. The former world championship tour surfer made the most of the “silky hollow and walling sections at a rainy and overcast Currumbin Alley”, finishing behind Queenslanders, James Woods, Tim Macdonald and Mitch Parkinson. Each of the finalists gained precious QCC series rating points that will go towards their pursuit of a Queensland title and a much-valued wildcard spot at the World Surfing League 2018 Quiksilver Pro.
