I would like to greatly thank the police who assisted me through the flood water on Wednesday afternoon.

I was urgently instructed by my surgeon to get to hospital that day.

Within 12 hours of being admitted to John Flynn Hospital I had a PICC line inserted and very strong antibiotics administered. I am now in the care of my infectious disease specialist as well as 2 orthopaedic surgeons and a plastic surgeon. This team has known me for years. I have been given the plan over the next 2 weeks of the 3 operations that will be carried out.

Many thanks to the police who understood the urgency for me to get out of Yamba.
