Plenty of admirers for Magpies

On Sunday, the Magpies hosted the Tweed Coast Raiders at the Yamba Rugby League ground.

After a frantic first quarter of football both in attack and defence, the Raiders were up by a single try, unfortunately in the dying moments of the quarter Matty Laurie suffered a serious lower leg injury and will be sidelined for an extended period and we wish him a speedy recovery.

When the game resumed the Magpies gained plenty of admirers with their stinging defence and entertaining attack, there were a few bruised Raiders heading back north after the game.

Once again Cody Walker lead the way and as the playing group gain match fitness and returning players it is only a matter of time before they record a victory as the desire and determination was obvious to all that attended, final score Raiders 30 Magpies 12.

In the early games the Ladies League Tag couldn’t quite match it with the high-flying Raiders but are continually improving and enjoying their game time. Reserve grade basically spent the first 20 minutes defending but when given the opportunity to play footy and get back into the contest they too put up a creditable performance before going down to a very good opposition 46 to 18. Reggie’s first win is not very far away.

The Magpies next home game is to be played on Sunday June 20 at Yamba. Our opponents on the day will be the Mullumbimby Giants, will this be the day that all the stars align? Be there to find out.
