Grabbing the headlines this week are Coutts Crossing’s first ever State Champions. Peter Deeth and Wayne Gadke teamed up to win the NSW Ricochet title against some very strong competition.
It was a reward for practice and hard work and landed them the much-coveted Ricochet Championship. Their semi-final and final wins were outstanding.
Such a win does not overshadow another excellent performance in the Club’s Golf Croquet 2021 Open Championship. Phil Jordan has been promising to have a breakout win for some time, but recent major foot surgery seemed to have delayed his chances till a stunning 7-1 victory over Wayne Gadke in the final. He put on a fine show, worthy of a Champion. In the lead-up to the finals, Wayne Gadke just beat Marilyn Wilson and Phil Jordan had to struggle to edge Royce Wilson 7-6.
In Social GC games Kathy and Paul Schofield showed good form and Ann Williams and Marilyn Wilson started the week well.
Coaching on Friday concentrated on jump shots and strategy with everyone benefitting from the coaching.
Notable Ricochet results on Tuesday saw Louise Lowe use 6 bisques to defeat Peter Deeth 10-9 while Sue Deeth overcame Rusty Case 10-6.
No AC games this week with everyone away at other tournaments.
