Perfect conditions for golf at Yamba

A field of 132 golfers enjoyed the quick three-hour round at Yamba last Thursday with perfect sunshine and no wind making the day all the more enjoyable for the mid-week Stableford competition.

Wayne Rice was the A Grade winner returning 39pts from Terry Winser with 37pts and Chris Holst was 3rd also with 37pts.

In B Grade Peter Hall was the winner with 39pts from John Stuckey 38pts on a c/b from Phil McDougal.

Brendon Watkins returned the score of the day with a massive 46pts giving him the C Grade win and loosing him four shots off his handicap, 2nd was Brian Dwyer by 10 shots with 36pts and 3rd went to Alex Miltiadou with 35pts on a c/b.

Balls for the day went to 34 points or better.

King takes 19 shots to go 146 metres

Saturday saw the running of the John Wade ANZAC medal in conjunction with the monthly medal Stroke round and the shots (to which there were many) of the day was from our resident ambo Andy King who took 19 shots to finish the 2nd shortest hole on the course the par 3 3rd.

Golfers who did not need that many were: in A Grade Craig Erskine who shot 68 nett giving him the win over Dan Kelly with 70 nett on a c/b from Richie Carter.

Daniel also won the gross with 74 hits. Not bad for someone who plays five times a year.

B Grade winner was Glen Stephens who not only shot the score of the day but also won the ANZAC Medal with 65 nett, 2nd went to Russell Cain with 70 nett on a c/b from Greg LaForest. Glen also won the gross with 88 hits.
Don Schlussler shot a great 66 nett to win the C Grade medal from Noel Collie 67nett on a c/b from Roger Cotton. Don won the gross with 94 hits.
Balls for the day went to 73 nett with 39 nett on the back 9.

Chris Durrington
