Perfect conditions at Yamba for golfers

A medium size field at Yamba on Thursday contested the single Stableford prize money with a few visitors coming up from down south to enjoy the warmth. The winner of A Grade was Geoff Flett who has finally found some form returning 40pts from Kash Robinson 36pts on a count back from Greg Wyllie. B Grade winner was Alan Warry with the score of the day 42pts from Dick Ord 40pts and 3rd went to Robert Gallagher 38pts on a c/b. Geoff Butler took out C Grade with 35pts from Rodger Gathercole 34pts on a c/b from Terry Wilson 34. Nearest to the Pins were; On the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 3rd Alex Podbereski at 275cm, the Peter Campbell Physio 9th was Tim Stokes at 535cm, the SeaFire 10th was Rex Bolte 300cm, the Yamba Barber shop 12th saw Alex Podbereski get his 2nd at 134cm and the SeaFire 17th went to Russell Cain at 200cm. Balls went to 33 with 15 on the Back 9. Saturday Stableford With 5 teams starting the Pennant season on Sunday only 122 players contested the Stableford competition on Saturday and all winning scores were above average. Geoff Flett made it two wins from two starts winning A Grade again with 41pts from Rod Berry, Royal Canberra with 40pts on a c/b from Garry Payne. B Grade winner was Peter Hyslop with 42pts on a c/b from Alan Syle with 42 as well and 3rd went to Rob Hodson with 40pts. Terry Bull took out C Grade with 42pts from Scott Young 41 and 3rd went to Brian Smith with 39pts. Nearest to the Pins were; On the John Wright Pro Shop 3rd Glen Stephens at 82cm, the Peter Campbell Physio 9th was Mark Phillips from the SGA at 61cm, the SeaFire 10th went to Geoff Flett 83cm, the SeaFire 12th was Chris Austin 76cm, Rod Berry won the Bean Scene 17th 84cm and the 2nd shot 17th went to Terry Bull at 15cm. Balls went to 35 with 16 on the back 9. Pennants Five Yamba teams travelled far and wide for the 1st Round of the NRDGA Pennant series with teams 1, 2 and 3 coming away with wins team weren’t so lucky and team 5 came away all square.
