Palm Lake golf

Our last September game saw another good roll-up for a Stableford round.

Unfortunately, we had some bad news that one of our stalwarts, Bernie Pooley passed away on Monday. For those who remember, Bernie had a stint at reporting our results in a very creative fashion, including activities of “Daisy Duck” on the course. Vale Bernie.

In another piece of bad news our visitor last week, Phil Smith took an unintended dive from scaffolding during the week and ended up in hospital. We are not sure whether Tony Turner had anything to do with this as there was a challenge set to beat him this week, but we can delay that until Phil is back swinging a club – make it soon mate!

So, to the results on the day and Bob Oddy had a win with 22 points, beating his playing partner Terry Wilson on 20 and Kevin Moran on 19.

NTPs saw John Joyce hit the green on the 10th and put his second right next to the pin.

When asked to describe his feat all he could come up with was that it was easy for a man of his talent. Well said John! On the 12th Alex Miltiadou was the closest, despite a warning that being in the last group prohibited him from putting his name on the card and on the 17th, Paul Christie must have hit at least one straight, as he took the money there.

As the weather is warming up, we are getting good numbers participating but we can always handle more, so if you are looking for a game on a Tuesday simply be at the course by 7.30am and we’ll arrange for you to play with our group.
